Shigezushi

"Sushi Lunch" (¥1,000). Eight pieces of sushi, with side dish, salad, soup, pickles, and dessert.

Beloved by locals for many years
a sushi shop popular for reasonably priced lunches

Located in a corner of downtown Chitose where eating and drinking establishments crowd together, Shigezushi has continued to be popular for 50 years. Standing behind the counter nowadays is second-generation proprietor Takafumi Nakazawa, who serves up nigiri made from little mounds of sushi rice just barely pressed together to leave the right amount of grainy mouth feel, and topped with the seasonal fish and shellfish. Or try the "Bowl of the Day", piled high with seafood. Shigezushi began serving lunch last year, and it has been extremely popular. Many of the guests are regulars who have frequented the restaurant since the days of Nakazawa senior, but there are also lots of guests from outside of Hokkaido and overseas.
