HOKKAIDO Kamome Shokudo ("Seagull Cafe")

"Chicken Cutlet Teppen Plate" (¥1,500) is built around Hokkaido-grown chicken breasts fried in a mantle of batter made with Chitose eggs.

Relaxing cafe with an at-home feel
popular for hand-made dishes using Hokkaido ingredients

Chitose-born proprietor Kanako Shibata opened this cafe with the desire to "create a place where everyone can feel comfortable, from children to grannies". The menu of hand-made dishes crafted from local and Hokkaido-grown ingredients includes one-plate meals and pasta. The interior has an at-home atmosphere, and it provides a place for regulars and travelers to exchange information.

The space is adorned with sundries from Northern Europe. The interior is designed with the kitchen on a lower level so that guests can watch the hands of the kitchen staff at work.
A stand-alone cafe with white walls and big glass windows. Blue is the accent color.
