Sohda Shokudo
Popular "Zangi set menu" (¥940) comes with locally produced fried eggs.
An inexpensive eating place that appeals to the general public,
had its roots in a cafeteria for factory employees
This eatery with mass appeal is popular for the variety of its menu and the generous servings in its set meals, bowls, and noodles. The slightly sweet tasting fried chicken called "Zangi" can be enjoyed a la carte, in set meals, or together with ramen, and there is also an intensely spicy version called "Jigoku (Hell) Zangi" that evokes Noboribetsu Hot Spring's Hell Valley. If you are confident in your ability to handle heat, be sure to take the challenge.

If not, "Noboribetsu Enma Fried Noodles" (¥1,090) is not too spicy. This comes with Zangi and fried shrimp and will satisfy big appetites.
This restaurant has been an old familiar known by the name of "Sohda Shokudo" from back in the day when it was an employee cafeteria inside a chemical factory.
An approx. 15 minute walk from JR Horobetsu Station. During the day on weekdays, it is lively with mostly local customers.
