KINPEN CAFE
From Shiraoi beef to unusual Porot pork,
Conveying the charms of excellent local ingredients
At a hub for exchange that forges connections between people
A restaurant operated in Shiraoi-cho by proprietor Ryoichi Mikami and wife Ikumi. Ikumi comes from a family that operates a ranch and butcher shop, so their menu of meat dishes is extensive. You will of course find Shiraoi beef, but KINPEN CAFE was also the first to offer unusual Porot Farm pork.
The Mikamis want to appeal to a broad spectrum of age groups, so their lineup ranges from Western food like hamburger steaks to sukiyaki made from Shiraoi beef, deep fried cutlets of Porot Farm pork, and ramen, as well as a Children's Lunch. You can also get the "Shiraoi Burger" from the local menu and the cafe's original "Kinpen Fried Chicken" as takeout.
Vegetables sent directly from "Matsuura Farm" in Chitose are sold in the cafe and have a good reputation for high quality and reasonable price among the local people. There is also a casual gallery inside that exhibits photographs, etc. When someone wants to sell sundries or hold an event, the cafe serves as a hub for related exchange with the local people.
