Reservation system for entry to Upopoy

Extended validity of One Year Passes

The validity of one year passes issued on or before August 29, 2021 has been extended to cover the temporary closures of Upopoy in June 2021 (20 days) and from August to September 2021 (31 days). See below for details. No action is required to extend the validity one year passes, pass holders should present their pass to a member of staff at the gate upon arrival as normal.

The following entry restrictions and other measures are currently in place as part of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Visitors are currently required to make a reservation for a specific date for entry to Upopoy. Please ensure that you have all required tickets before the day of your visit.
  • Reservations can be made from up to 14 days before the date on which you intend to visit.
  • Visitors wishing to see the National Ainu Museum exhibitions must make a separate reservation online specifying a date and time for entry to the museum exhibitions in addition to reserving a ticket for entry to Upopoy.
  • Separate tickets available free of charge on the day of your visit may be required to enter facilities other than the museum.
  •  Please wear a face mask and observe social distancing during your visit to Upopoy. Visitors will be asked to provide contact information upon entry (excluding visitors who have already provided this information when making a reservation for entry to the museum).

Bring the one year pass voucher issued at the time of purchase to the issuing desk at Upopoy within six months of purchase to receive your pass.
※If you do not provide a photograph when purchasing your pass through Webket, a photograph for your one year pass will be taken when issuing your pass.

Acquiring tickets in advance
  • Webket is an online ticket distribution service.
  • Date-specific one day tickets, date-specific reservation tickets (free of charge) and timed-entry passes for the museum (free of charge) can be requested from 14 days before the date on which you intend to visit.
  • If the park is not at full capacity, tickets can be requested at the ticket desk on arrival (reservations for the National Ainu Museum can be made at the museum reception).
Note to visitors when entering Upopoy

In order to ensure that entry proceeds smoothly, please print your QR code in advance and present it to a member of staff at the entrance gate (visitors who cannot print their code should ensure that their QR code is displayed on the screen of their smartphone or similar device when lining up at the gate).
Visitors with disabilities should present their disability certificate or similar documentation together with their QR code.

〈 Cancellation method for each admission ticket 〉

■ Tickets purchased through Webket
  • Tickets can be canceled up until the date of admission.
  • A cancellation fee of 15% applies to any cancellations made within two days of the date of admission.
  • To make a cancelation, access your purchase history through your Webket account and follow the cancellation procedure.
  • Please note that purchases cannot be refunded if a receipt has been issued.
  • Please note that tickets purchased together cannot be canceled individually. Tickets should be purchased separately if there is a possibility that the number of visitors may change.
  • No cancellation fee is charged for the cancellation of date-specific reservation tickets (free of charge).
  • Please note that cancellations cannot be accepted over the phone.
■ Tickets purchased at convenience store terminals

Cancellations are subject to a fixed cancellation fee of 15% of the cost of your purchase.

  1. Cancel your ticket(s) by contacting the JTB HTA Sales Center on or before the date of admission.
  2. Mail your ticket(s) to the JTB HTA Sales Center in Kumamoto City (postage costs are to be borne by the customer). Please include your name, contact information and details of the bank account into which you wish the refund to be paid.
  3. Your refund (after the cancellation fee and any applicable bank fees have been subtracted) will be paid into the specified bank account.

 〈 Ticket acquisition procedure 〉

  1. If you wish to visit the museum exhibitions, reserve a timed-entry pass (free of charge) for the museum for each member of your group.
  2. Request a  date-specific reservation ticket (free of charge) for each member of your group.
  3. Upon arrival, inform the ticket desk that you wish to enter as a group, present your date-specific reservations, and pay the admission fee for your group.

  • Webket is an online ticket distribution service.
  • Date-specific one day tickets, date-specific reservation tickets (free of charge) and timed-entry passes for the museum (free of charge) can be requested from two weeks before the date on which you intend to visit.
  • Date-specific reservation tickets (free of charge) for Upopoy for a maximum of 19 people can be processed as a single request through Webket. The process may need to be performed several times depending on the size of the group.
  • In order to ensure that all reservations are genuine, we may contact you to confirm your reservation. Please ensure that the contact information of a representative of the group (travel agency employee responsible for the group, etc.) is provided when registering an account with Webket.
  • Please note that your reservation may be canceled if you cannot be contacted using the information provided.

Procedure for Entry to Upopoy

Before the date of your visit

1. Purchase/Request admission tickets and fill out contact information form


  • Make a date-specific reservation before the date on which you intend to visit.

    In order to avoid delays during busy times, wherever possible please download a contact information form and write your name and contact information in advance (only one person per group is required to provide their contact information).
  • Visitors who have already made a timed-entry reservation for entry to the museum are not required to provide a contact information form.

On the date of your visit

2. Read the requests to visitors in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19


Thermal imaging is used to perform temperature checks at the entrance gate. Visitors with a fever of 37.5°C (99.5°F) or higher will not be allowed to enter Upopoy.

Please wear a face mask and make use of hand sanitizer.

Visitors to Upopoy are required to fill out a contact information form (this does not apply to visitors who have already made a timed-entry reservation for the museum).

3. Pass through the entrance gate


  • If you have a date-specific one day tickets for Upopoy, please hold the QR code over the automatic entrance gate.
  • If you have a date-specific reservation tickets for Upopoy (free of charge), please present the QR code to a member of staff at the entrance gate.

4. Enter Upopoy


  • After passing through the entrance gate, you are free to move around the park.
  • Please note that access to some exhibitions and activities may not be possible due to capacity restrictions implemented in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  • Please note that separate tickets (available on the day) are required for some exhibitions and activities.
