The Foundation for Ainu Culture
A State of Emergency will be in effect in Hokkaido from Friday, August 27 to Sunday, September 30. In consideration of the current situation in Hokkaido with regards to COVID-19, Upopoy will be temporarily closed for the duration of this State of Emergency.
In order to accommodate existing reservations for school groups, this closure will take effect from Tuesday, August 31. Please note that Upopoy is also closed on Monday, August 30 in accordance with our regular schedule.
We sincerely apologize for any disappointment and inconvenience caused as a result of this closure and thank all visitors for their understanding at this time.
An announcement regarding the reopening of facilities will be made as soon as information becomes available.
1. Details of temporary closure
All facilities at Upopoy will be closed. In addition to the National Ainu Park, National Ainu Museum and Memorial Site, this includes all shops, restaurants and parking facilities.
The outdoor projection mapping show Kamuy Symphonia will be suspended from Friday, August 27.
2. Ticket refunds, etc.
Refunds will be provided for customers who have already purchased one day tickets. The applicable procedure varies depending on the purchase method used. Click here for details (available in Japanese only).
